Icosa: Patchwork World
Dragonsgate is a shadow of its former self. It used to be a major stopping point between City State A and City State B; now it’s just fighting to survive. Dragonsgate is located on the Dragon’s Blood Lake at the mouth of the Serpentine River, which leads to one of its major exports: dragonfish. These fish are similar to salmon, but have deep red scales and rich red meat. Legend has it that these fish look the way they do is because long ago, when the humans were fighting free from the Archons, the Archons summoned a mighty and terrible dragon to crush the humans. However, the dragon was defeated and plummeted into the lake, its blood staining the water and the fish within. In addition, the grapes growing near the lake took on a deep red hue, and the marshal of the town at the time took himself to be a vintner and made an exceptionally spicy cask of wine from the grapes. The wine, along with the lake, were then dubbed Dragon’s Blood and the grapes Blood Grapes.
